Was it the times? Is it driven by what the public wanted from them? Or was it them? It's easy to see cause and effect between the attitudes about love in Abba songs, and the collapse of their relationships... in the world the lyrics describe love is adversarial... there are winners and their are losers. Love's victors lord it over the losers, who drag themselves back to their abusers again and again. It's really quite dark... I am mildly curious how they deal with the single most common theme in these songs in the broadway / movie musical Mamma Mia...
